Bethel is an experienced investment professional who has worked with early stage social enterprises across East Africa. She is the CEO and co-founder at Startup Factory Ethiopia, Ethiopia’s first Venture Builder focused on building highly scalable and investable ventures. Prior to co-founding Startup Factory, Bethel worked for Novastar Ventures, a venture capital fund based out of Nairobi, Kenya that invests in early stage businesses serving bottom of the pyramid stakeholders across East and West Africa. Bethel was the Ethiopia Investment Manager for Novastar and is currently acting as an advisor to the fund for the Ethiopia portfolio. Prior to Novastar, Bethel manged an impact fund backed by USAID that invested in six companies in Ethiopia. Most of her work focuses on start-ups that are creating solutions to pressing challenges for the underserved population at the bottom of the pyramid.
