In the last ten years, Takele has worked to bring the Union to global competitiveness through improving coffee quality and building internal capacity, which has increased transparency with coffee buyers. He led the Union to be a recognised actor of speciality coffee in the industry. He also led the way to export the first single farmer coffee from Ethiopia which attracted attention of coffee buyers in the US and Europe. Now this initiative has been scaled to national stage where a single producer farmer is capable of exporting his/her lot to international roasters and traders. He was invited speaker during the 2nd International Coffee Conference organised by the Ethiopian Coffee Exporters’ Association under the subject of Speciality Coffee, The Experience of YCFCU Ltd. The union has taken one step further in its business venture to roast and export its coffee-value addition.
