DC Central Kitchen (DCCK) is a non-profit developer of innovative social ventures that break the cycle of hunger and poverty. Under Mike’s leadership, DCCK has grown from $3 million to $17 million in annual revenue with nearly 60% earned through mission-driven social enterprise activities. 48% of its staff have completed its own nationally-recognised Culinary Job Training programme for individuals with high barriers to employment. DCCK’s staff provide locally-sourced meals to public schools, distribute wholesale fresh produce to stores, and operate a retail café and catering operation in one of DC’s most underserved communities. Prior to joining DCCK in 2004, Mike had more than 20 years’ experience in hospitality including owning and operating his own restaurant.
